Reiki I & II
Reiki (ray-key) is a laying on of hands healing technique thousands of years old. It is believed that it originated in Tibet as a Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. I conduct a Reiki I & II certification, as well as a Reiki Master certification.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words, Rei, which means spiritual wisdom, and Ki which is known as the life force. It (Ki) has been given many names by many cultures that have been aware of it. Rei is the god consciousness which is all knowing, understands each person completely, the cause of all problems and knows what to do to heal them. Ki , is the vital life force, or the universal life force. It is the nonphysical energy that moves all living things, and is used by all healers. It is all around us and through us and can be guided by our minds. So it is that Reiki is the spiritually guided life force energy. Many people use a form of laying on of hands to heal, but it is only after receiving the Reiki attunements that it is Reiki. I know that after receiving my attunements at each level, the strength of my healing energies increased tremendously. Receiving the attunements opens energy channels in the body and sometimes you will actually receive information that you are supposed to relay to the person you are working with or just some things you need to know. You will, over time be able to decide what should be said and what doesn’t need to be. It is not unusual to communicate with someone else’s or your own spirit guides during a Reiki session.
The Reiki attunement, given at the end of Reiki I, II, and III, opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras and connects the student to the Reiki source. The Reiki attunement can also start a cleansing process in the physical body where toxins have been stored for a long time but the feelings and thought patterns of these toxins are no longer useful. Reiki will increase the vibratory level in and around the physical body. It brings the life force of the body to a level so that it may flow in a natural and healthy way. Reiki can never do harm, it always knows what a person needs and will adjust on its own appropriately. Also know that when you give a session you receive one. So it is healing and calming to both giver and receiver.
When we do Reiki, we are simply the vehicle to transport the universal energy from the universe to the person we are working with. The body will bring the energy to where it needs it. It is a mixture of the male and female energy, + and – charge, yin and yang, heaven and earth.
Last but not least it is important to ground and center at the beginning of each session. You may choose to do this however it is comfortable for you. My way of doing this is to visualize a beautiful golden cord, sort of neon looking, from the sky. I wrap it around my body starting at the crown and moving down around the shoulders, chest and arms, hipline, thighs, knees, ankles and feet and then I plug it in to the earth. I then visualize my chakras and in sequence start to see them spinning in a clockwise direction and my body even gets warm during this time. I ask my spirit guides and angels, any Reiki Masters that are available, Archangels Raphael and Michael to assist if they are around. I surround myself and the receiver with a white light and begin.
At the end of a session, it is important to ground, clear your arms, washing them if necessary, and again, visualize the cord.
This is an experience like no other and the true reward is using this God given gift of healing to help others. Remember that any healing that you learn anywhere from anyone is only a basic foundation. Over time you will grow to be more comfortable with your Goddess Given Power and you will adapt techniques that are comfortable and work for you. Your higher consciousness and guides will lovingly guide you. Just be open to receive.
